Commencing 2400 years ago St. John's wort was used as a nerve tonic, a painkiller for arthritis, menstrual cramping, gastrointestinal problems (such as diarrhea, nausea) as well as ulcers. St John's wort is today most widely known as an herbal treatment for depression. In some countries, such as Germany, Hypericum is prescribed for mild depression far more commonly than synthetic antidepressant medication. In most countries, standardized extracts are available over the counter – usually in tablet or capsule form, and also in teabags and tinctures.The effect mechanism is believed to be the inhibition of monoamine oxidase (MAO). CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Research shows that St. John's Wort interacts with some drugs. The herb affects the way the body processes or breaks down many drugs; in some cases, it may speed or slow a drug's breakdown. Drugs that can be affected include:

•        Indinavir and possibly other drugs used to control HIV infection
•        Irinotecan and possibly other drugs used to treat cancer
•        Cyclosporine, which prevents the body from rejecting transplanted organs
•        Digoxin, which strengthens heart muscle contractions
•        Warfarin and related anticoagulants
•        Birth control pills
•        Antidepressants

GOTU KOLA 145 mg. (Hydrocotyle asiatica): Studies show that Gotu Kola relieves stress and anxiety. Gotu Kola enhances cholineraic mechanisms believed responsible for this action. It does not contain caffeine.

SIBERIAN GINSENG ROOT (Eleutherococcus senticosis): Provides an adaptogenic effect.

L-TYROSINE:  A common deficiency affecting brain function (precursor for catecholamine norepinephrine).

VITAMIN B-6 (PYRI-5-PHOS):  A common deficiency which can affect brain function.
